Im looking for grants to help my local fire department build a new fire department for our small town. Does anyone know where I could find grants.
There’s a grant message board at http://www.grantforums.com
You could try asking there

Depends on the Make up of the Department
In NYC the NY FD has Deputy Chiefs in every division, Battalion Chiefs and so on
im graduating high school and im thinking about pursuing this career.
If you want more info, try looking at their recruiting website:
http://www.nyc.gov/html/fdny/html/community/ff_eligibility_requirements_080106.shtml
They also post exam dates and recruiting openings.
You cannot be hired without having college credits, honorable military discharge or applicable work experience, 21 years old, resident of NYC or nearby counties, drivers license, US citizen, etc.
You PROBABLY will not be hired unless you are also an EMT or paramedic, although it is not a requirement, but there are hundreds of better qualified applicants if you only meet the minimum.
It’s a good career choice, but you might need to familiarize yourself with the job and training requirements and start getting experience in a local volunteer department before you commit your life to it.

Not bad. A decent chuckle’s worth. Racist, yet slightly charming.
I wanted to know how I could become a member of a MAryland Volunteer Fire Department, but to study EMT-B only!
There is no Maryland Volunteer Fire Department. There are communities in Maryland that have individual volunteer fire departments. You have to contact the fire department in your community and find out if they involve volunteers at all, how you become a volunteer, etc. Every fire station is different in terms of how new volunteers are trained and inducted. It’s up to you to find out the rules for your local fire department.
What do i wear? All I have is a suit I bought but, I dont want to over kill it. I know some other people are going to be wearing slacks and button up with tie.
(I have already completed the aptitude test and physical test)
Slacks, button down shirt and a tie. Wearing this shows respect for the Deputy Chief.
i read it but i dont know who said they killed him.
Montag killed the Fire Chief with his flamethrower in Fahrenheit 451..
I am a leaseholder of a flat in a victorian converted house and the freeholder is asking us all to pay for the costs of having a new fire alarm system fitted.Who is responsible for the payment, the leaseholders or the freeholder?
As other posters have said, It will depend on the terms of your lease. Recently I installed a fire alarm and emergency lighting system in a Victorian property which had been converted some years ago into to six flats. The freeholder had been ordered to do so by the local council. Most of the cost was paid out of the "building maintenance fund", which each leaseholder pays into, and the remainder was shared equally by each leaseholder. So in this case it was the leaseholders and not the freeholder who bore the cost.
Hope this helps.
Not having time to wait around at any fire station_if they were to hear me out on this, which I don’t know_and not been able to spend time on phone, is there a way for me to contact the FIRE CHIEF on my city through the internet; through my email?
Well, it depends on your city and fire chief. Check your local government website and see if they have it listed.
Keep in mind though, that e-mails tend to be "low priority" and there’s a good chance you’ll never get a response. you’d be better off going to the fire house and leaving a physical message for him (a written note with your contact information, hours of availability and what you want to discuss).
I can’t cook without fear that the alarm will go off and the fire department will show up. I can’t remove the smoke detector. It is not battery operated and it is hardwired into the emergency alarm system. Can I cover it up with something?
You can cover the detector temporarily with a plastic shower cap. Just remember to remove the cap once you are finished cooking or you will defeat the purpose of the fire alarm system.
