RE: Bushfires in Australia. Are they arsonists or murderers after all the fires are deliberate ?How should the courts sentence them?
There was an arsonist who set a fire that cost four fire fighters their lives in Riverside County, California. He is charged with four counts of murder and going for the death penalty.

Both. Charge them with murder and arson, and any and all other applicable charges. Sentence them for everything, consecutively rather than concurrently. Let them sit in prison until they leave in a box.

In my opinion, the guilty perpetrator should be charged with:
1) Arson to start with for lighting the fire itself
2) Murder charges if any fatalities are caused by the fire
3) Assault if any personal injuries are caused by the fire
4) Malicious damage charges if any property is damaged or destroyed by the fire. Added up that could mean multiple life sentences, which I see as a just punishment.

It is murder. We need capital punishment in Australia. End of story.

They should be handcuffed to a chair inside their house. Set the house on fire and if they make it out alive then send the scum to jail for the rest of their lives.

4 years ago I lost my house all I owned and worse of all my 2 cats 1 dog and 3 birds to an arsonist. He is nothing but a piece of shit as far as Im concurned just like the rest of them.
SORRY if I have offended anyone but deal with it.
I take it that the muppets who gave me the thumbs down have never had their house burnt to the ground. How PC of you.

Agree with all the above.
They should also be publicly taken to see the devastation they have caused, and should have to meet with those who have lost everything, including family members.
I do understand that most firebugs appear to have a mental abberation, but it is devastating it only happens in the height of summer, when bush fires are raging through and detroying everything in their path. Lives, property, pets, wildlife and livelihoods are gone in seconds. Firebugs seem not to be very active at other times or the year. Do they really have a mental abberation, or is that just a cop out excuse?
Until Australia gets some balls and really shows that this is not going to be tolerated, this will continue, year after year, as it has for decades, with more lives ruined by those who get their kicks from lighting fires

They should be charged with arson, murder, attempted murder, assault causing grievous bodily harm, Damage of property, animal cruelty, and sued for damages, also they should be sued for time and effort that the fire fighters put in to putting the fire out, also damage to wild life/ habitat, and Finlay sued for stress and mental anguish.
Im sure with all those charges under there belt they will get life with no possibility of parole.
AUSTRALIA YOU NEED TO CRACK DOWN ON THESE PEOPLE BECAUSE IF THEY KEEP GETTING A SLAP ON THE WRIST THEY WILL KEEP DOING IT AND TAKING MORE INNOCENT LIVES.
God bless anyone who has been murdered because of an arsonist!!!

I would say Terrorist is more appropriate name for these scum, my compassion is nil for them, only for the people that have been affected and also all the animals and wild life that has been lost and injured because of someone with the brain size of a pea. If I was a different person I would burn them at the stake and see if they find it as good as lighting it but if there was someway to recreate the terrifying conditions of bush fires that they have to try and escape and see the aftermath of what the result of these fires I feel would give them a more lasting impression, just throwing them in jail will not really do anything to stop them from committing more in the future when they are released and jail just does not seem to really be a punishment that is taken seriously. My thoughts with all affected .

They should be sentenced with arson and murder because if they had not been a fire those people would still be alive today.I would give them a life sentence.

they should get charged for mass murder after all the fires took 131 lives, and all the animal crulety should be taken into account, and also all the money should be payed back to the people by the guy to get there lives started again,
i dont think there is a punnishment enough for someone as filth as he is, i think it needs to be slow and painful like the deaths all those people and animals suffered

I think that if they are found guilty of starting the fires on purpose, then they should be burnt alive themselves..
How dare they expect any type of civil rights when they have taken so many lives themselves. Jail is too easy for them..

They should be charged with murder, arson, grievous bodily harm, and any other relevant charges… and put in prison for life.
Even though these people are obviously evil, I’m appalled at the people who say they should be burnt alive. Yes, I have been affected by the bush fires and I know the horrors that have taken place lately – but that kind of punishment should never be intentionally inflicted. We won’t sink to arsonists’ level and torture people.

10 years for each life lost should do the trick as well as depriving them contact with their friends and family for the rest of their lives as if they have all passed away.

If you want to know how Do we deal with these kind of cunts, just watch the news and see what the courts hand out. But if you want to know our opinion. The question should be, How Should we deal with these filthy cunts that light deliberate fires? Their Arsonists and Murderers, and they should be chained to a tree that their fire is heading towards so they can die an honorable death by their own hands. prision for them is a waste of tax payers money.

Show them the dead burnt bodies and then take them to show the casualties with burns in the hospital and then take rhem out the bush and set them on fire. Will take the burns victims many months or even years to recover….same goes for the people that lost loved one and friends. rhey may never recover.. I say burn the arsonists

As a Victorian and witness to the devastation in my state I can only say that the police better get their hands on the arsonists before we do.
The sentence should be for life, I know there is something severely wrong with the way arsonists think but the consequences of these fires is nothing short of murder in this case, on a mass scale.

I agree with the “they better hope the police get to them before we do”…f**king cunts, I and so many others have lost many friends, family, property…Everything!! in this devastation all because some @rsehole was bored…well lets hope they get caught by those who survived, I’m sure they’ll show better punishment then what the Australian Government will hand out
And many thanks to everyone that has donated and helped Especially the SES & CFA…it’s very much appreciated…. We just all have to stick together and know there’s a tomorrow

i think anyone that is caught lighting fires should be taken to a burns unit to see what happens to a human body when it has been burnt.then should be made to help clean up and rebuild.then the victoms familys should get to decied the punishment.
