im joining a fire department as a volunteer and want to know how easy or hard it is im in really good shape so im not scared if its hard but if youve ever done this how hard is it
It depends on the training you do. Some of the training you’ll have to take is mostly bookwork with little physical activity. When you start training to go into fires is when things start to get rough. Personally I didn’t think the interior firefighter training was too hard, but there were some in the class who struggled. If you’re in good shape you should be fine. When you get into some of the more advanced firefighting classes things can become hard. Especially when you get into different types of Rescue. The best advice I can give you is to study and practice every chance you get until it becomes second nature to you.

I haven’t done it so I can’t say from my own personal experience, but my friend did the training about two years ago. She said it was really intense training – and she’s an athlete so she’s in great shape. But she did say it was hard and they really push you. When you’re faced with a real fire, you have to be in shape physically as well as mentally, so the training has to be very intense to prepare you for that.
Good luck! And thanks for volunteering in this capacity – not many people do.

Its not that bad at all. I was a volunteer at a small town fire department. The worst was a the schooling. The physical, obstacle course, dragging a charged hose, etc. was a piece of cake. If you have the opportunity I would suggest taking any extra classes that they offer you. Peace
