keeping kitten quiet during apt inspection.?

I have a fire inspection sometime this week, and we’re not supposed to have pets. I’m hoping they’ll come when he’s sleeping, but if it’s not, I plan to hold him under a blanket and pet him until they leave (it’s worked before with another cat) and have my TV loud so I can blame his quiet meowing on the TV. Anyone have any suggestions? I know I’m not the only one that deals with this (10% of all rental properties allow pets, yet 60% of renters have pets). I only live in a one room apt, so hiding him in another room is not applicable.. I’m thinking of letting him in my couch (he loves to crawl in there and hide, since it’s a forbidden place to him) when they are here. Thanks!

Oh, and I don’t care to hear comments about "you’re breaking your contract OMFG!!! RESPECT MANAGEMENT BLAH BLAH" or "MOVE TO SOMEWHERE YOU CAN HAVE PETS ST00PID". I’ll moving at the end of next month anyways, even if I wasn’t, I still don’t care.
They didn’t tell me when they’d come, just sometime this week. My dad is extremely allergic to cats so my parents are out of the question, however my aunt may. Don’t have too my friends that I could trust, i.e. their pitt bull may eat the cat (it ate their family cat!)
Thanks for the suggestions! Luckily the notice was more threatening than it was, only one person came in, that worked for an independant fire inspection company! So everything worked out! They started testing fire alarm right before they came through so I was prepared!

Is there a way one of your friends can watch him for a few? Maybe your parents? There is always the option of putting him in a boarding shelter for a few hours. Just don’t tell the shelter why your doing it. Just say your going out of town for some reason. And please, please, please…. don’t forget to hide the kitty litter and litter box. ;)

Remember to hide kitty litter, food and water before letting management in. If they do discover the kitty give them a smile and say you borrowed him for the day because you have seen mice.
