Im a volunteer fire … Im a volunteer fire fighter in spain and when we get called we have to go to the station as fast as possible, HOWEVER we are not allowed lights on our vheicals because they arent classed as emergency vheicals and if we exceed the speed limit police can stop and fine us if they see us.
How stupid is that?
We have to obey the law 100% on the way to an emergency until in the fire truck.
In my town we … In my town we border the city and the amount of traffic we get between 7-9 am and 4-6pm it’s insane sometimes, while we are trying to get to the firehouse we get toned 2-3 times and there is nothing we can do because we are stuck in traffic.
ff621, I’m going to … ff621, I’m going to have to respectfully disagree with you on that. Just because you have the privilege to use a courtesy light, it doesn’t automatically make your car an emergency vehicle. I don’t think a siren is necessary.
I have Wheelen … I have Wheelen Super LED on my dash and strobes i could be seen from a good distance and people still won’t get out of the way. we should be allowed to se sirens.
Nov2529 I agree … Nov2529 I agree with u 200%. How I like 2 say it, “Move for the lights cuz next time they may be 4 u!”. Its gettin real bad now of days. Here in Indiana Ive been fliped the bird, tail grated, brake checked, and yelled at by heartless people out on the road just 4 tryin 2 save someones life. Deep down I hope 2 see thoses people again but this time their the ones Im runnin 2 save cuz then ill be able 2 say “hey remember me?, u kno the guy just tryin 2 do his job and help innocent”
this is for every … this is for every one that doesn’t move when you see a vehicle with blu lights running, MOVE OUT OF THE WAY PLEASE, thank you to those nice people who do, by the way i’m not putting ANYONE down in any way
No, it depends on … No, it depends on individual fire department requirements to be a firefighter. If you’re in the country legally and willing to work to be a firefighter.. Good Luck
Here in Kentucky we … Here in Kentucky we don’t have that problem, all volunteer firefighters are allowed to run red/white emergency lights. And we do get the right-of-way.
I love going to a … I love going to a call on a 30mph road and the guy in front of me is going 25mph and won’t pull over. It’s amazing the way people think.
If it’s flashing, … If it’s flashing, there’s an emergency and so yielding should be LAW not just a “courtesy”. You can bet that lawyers and insurance companies are behind this.
yeah. I upgraded to … yeah. I upgraded to LED dash light a few years ago, there was a huge improvement in how many vehicles noticed me and pulled over in day and night. Nobody can see a teardrop light in the day time.
yeah thats how it … yeah thats how it is here in NJ but i see many volleys that are not in holding officer positons using many red lights and sirens. here in NJ im only allowed blue. guess some peeps just dont follow the rules! haha
I am a volunteer … I am a volunteer firefighter also and find the pressure of getting to the firehouse very stressful. If everyone would move it would make life a lot easier, safer and save time.
We had a call a couple years back where an old guy didn’t want to move for us. There was 5 or 6 of us with blue lights behind him loosing valuable time. When we finally rolled up on the scene guess whos cars was in the driveway. Yep!
He shows up at all our functions now. It’s too bad it had to cost him his house.
This is exactly why … This is exactly why ALL states need to MANDATE the right-of-way for volunteer firefighters. In Indiana, where this video is from, volunteers use blue lights as “courtesy” lights requesting the right-of-way. However if you are an EMT in Indiana you can display a flashing GREEN light on your personal vehicle and drivers MUST yield the right-of-way. Why is this not true for blue lights???
.
never hered of that … never hered of that im a jouner volinter firemen and im 16 i cant have light til 18 but i can ride in my friends car with light running or siren to a call and i can ride in an engine
well different … well different state wide but mostly you have to be a firefighter emt or cop to have one but you can buy em on ebay to but you cant use em in the car unless your an emergency worker
