There are several fire departments on Oahu. Federal, County, State and even private. For the Federal Fire Department, go to usajobs.com and do a series search. Select the locations where you want to search then type in 0081 under series. This will list any Federal Fire jobs. For the County Fire Department you have to be a resident so don't even bother unless you move to Hawaii. Although most fire departments run the local EMS service, it's seperate from the fire department in Honolulu. You will have to be an EMT so you might as well start working on that. I'm not sure what the requirements are for the State fire department, but they cover all the airports in the state. I'm sure you can apply online and that's a good place to apply if you want to be on a crash crew! For private fire departments, you'll probably need to be a Haz Mat Technician or Specialist. These fire departments mostly cover the refineries. If you need more info shoot me an email and I'll be glad to help.

Well im not part of the firefighting business but I got a couple websites:
http://www.co.honolulu.hi.us/hfd/index.htm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honolulu_Fire_Department
videos:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtkJfBxkJAQ

HFD gets a lot of applicants the biggest I heard(not to long ago) was 5,000 people wanting to join. Each recruit class has about 20-30. So it must be really hard to get in to this department. It would be good if you had a college degree so you won't be rejected like most people without one. Its not required but if you want to be hired by HFD its best you do.

Good Luck hope you get it!
References :
Future Honolulu Police Officer
