Where I’m from (PA) no volunteers are paid – and they certainly aren’t operating from tax dollars.

Yes…yes you do. Unless you like rampaging fires spreading thru your neighborhood because the dept couldn’t sustain operations.

   Most volunteer fire department pay believe it or not. And even if it is volunteer my tax dollars support the station and equipment.
