I am a vol in a … I am a vol in a combo dept. 24/7 you call we haul! We are all professionals striving to serve our community. Awesome vid. Part of the excitement is meeting unknown challenges and ordinary people doing extraordinary things and your vid captured that
you guys should be … you guys should be full time for all the fires your having good video i thought about be a volly or call guy cause i did not pass the writtten or physical
ik how can i make … ik how can i make it any more clear WE ARE NOT FDNY god dude i would do the same thing you did and so would any other firefighter on here
Lt. Pete “Vulcan” … Lt. Pete “Vulcan” Lund a retired FDNY d workave his life ing a fire with his Volunteer Co. of Woodmere . Why he did it? because it was in his blood. That is a True Hero, wish i had the chance to meet him. Heard he was a great Firefighter and a great man. R.I.P. Vulcan
Yes we mean nothing … Yes we mean nothing but when I’m in the city and i witness an accident I stop and help. Unlike the 2 dumbass FDNY EMT that let the woman died because they were off duty, I stop and help until the FF get there and i don’t expect a medal, pay, not even a thank you . I do it because it’s the nature of what we do Help people. I don’t need to get paid to help anyone.
Same here I respect … Same here I respect our paid Fire Dept (FDNY) and some of those guys are also Volunteers in their home town I know quite a few. We wish our dept become paid dept ,but we don’t see that happeninganytime soon and if we don’t do it then who will?? the cops??
That isn’t a … That isn’t a representation of all paid firefighters any more that a volunteer firefighter being arrested for arson. You hit the nail on the head how much are the taxpayers saving because you are willing to risk your life for free. we even pay our volunteer military service. No person should be expected to risk their life for the taxpayers in this country. We are the richest country in the world and we wont invest in public safety. Don’t take my comments wrong I have a lot of respect for vol.
Yes some standard, … Yes some standard, 2 FDNY Paramedics let a pregnant woman die just because they were off duty. Nice Job!!. See ,we Volunteers are never off duty we are there whenever we are needed and we don’t ask for a weekly check, benefits, raise or PTO. you know how much money the State saves because of our service??
Explain to me if … Explain to me if that is the case, then why isit that volunteer departments dont have any set standards to maintain. I am speaking only for my state. You will notice also that insurance rates are higher where volunteers protect the community. That is because they have the choice to respond, not a sworn duty to respond.
You will notice … You will notice that most professional firefighter don’t have to talk like gutter trash to make a point. I think you need to learn how to represent, your no firefighter! Your a wanna be. You proved that.
We don’t beg for … We don’t beg for calls we get enough calls in our town not to mention mutual aidsand when you can do it 24/7 that keeps calls craving under control. The only difference is that you guys get a check and we don’t. but we get certify and train twice a week all year round.
One of the issues … One of the issues with paid versus vol.depts is the standards and certifications that must be earned. I have 26 years in paid service and laugh at all the volunteers begging for fire calls etc. After you get past the adrenaline rush period of fire service you become a professional. If you are doing this job for the kicks and jollies you are missing the point of the profession. Paid firefighters don’t stoop to that level. Stay safe brothers. God bless.
Fact :73% of … Fact :73% of Firefighters in the U.S. are Volunteers. I’m one of them and proud of it, going on my 5th year.and let me tell you nothing beats fighting a fire and having some cold ones and BBQ with your brothers afterwards.
