Uh…positive pressure ventilation is one of the MOST commonly used forms of ventilation…u only use it once your sure the fire has been knocked down, or even if your trying to locate the fire…uv just gotta be careful
Positive pressure … Positive pressure forces fresh air into the fire building. It is very rarely used in the Midwest and on the East Coast due to the danger of feeding oxygen into the structure.
that is awsome
do … that is awsome
do they have hoses going from the building to the truck or does the truck just park where it is needed and just turn on the fan from where it is parked?
Well the alarm … Well the alarm progression starts at a Still alarm for your normal house fire. thats is 2 Engines, 2 Trucks, 1 Battalion Chief, Then the next responce is a Still & Box and that is 4 Engines, 2 Trucks, 1 Tower Ladder, 1 Squad, 3 Battalion Chiefs, 1 Deputy District Chief, 1 Command Van, 1 Ambulance, , 1 OFI Car, 1 EMS Field Officer. Then after that are the Extra alarms 2-11, 3-11, 4-11, 5-11 those get you 4 more engines at each level and at 2-11 you get 3 more trucks.
In Switzerland we … In Switzerland we use a lot of these and smaller Ventilation units. With a good Ventilation you can give the inside units a better view you can prevent smoke damages done to parts of the building that are intact.
Surely you can’t just blow some air inside, there still has too be an interior attack, because beside of candles you can’t blow many fires out by blowing…
its just Chicago’s … its just Chicago’s preference, as for the nav. lights not the case each department designs light packages different, mine use amber where chicago has a green light just the way THEY want it
Hi. I was hoping … Hi. I was hoping you could help me understand what the different alarm types mean? Like you say ’still and box alarm’ what is that? What is the difference between a still alarm or box alarm? And hopefully you could tell me what a mechanical alarm is? Thanks!!
Good question … Good question artisvrd,
The on-scene commander must make sure that all ‘hot-spots’ have been taken down and there is no smoldering materiel in the draft. The fire scene is never abandoned and is being closely monitored for air-quality during the entire process.
Those are … Those are navigation lights such as found on boats: Red for Port (drivers side in America), Green for Starboard. Apparatus need to maneuver in low-light situations of smoke and haze without running into one another.
Ah yes I remember … Ah yes I remember this wonderful wonderful day lol Oh well i graduated now and on woth my life. GO ST. CONSTANCE EAGLES!!!! i luv ya guys
