Lava flows are extremely hot, the rock material is heated to the point of melting and the lava retains that heat as it is erupted. That heat is transferred to everything that comes into contact with the lava. Fire is the result of this extreme heat contacting flammable material such as trees and houses.

I am pretty sure parts of Hawaii have experienced fires as a result of lava flows recently, but almost all lava flows cause some fires, either grass, trees, or other material.

It’s at 35%. For me it is too high of a risk to do that and I would like to support you on your goal. You should do a catchy theme or name for that fire safety seminar or advocacy and you should also place the leaflets in populated areas. You can use leaflet holders like these.

There is the word "hush" printed on the alarms and I’ve tried pressing all the buttons but that just seems to test the alarm. Any idea how to get them to stop beeping?
I’ve tried switching the batteries but both alarms seem to be fixed to the ceiling and I’m unable to remove them. Also wiped over to remove any dust that may be blocking the sensor.

Usually you can just take the batteries out if it’s battery operated. That’s what I do when my starts acting up. And sometimes that means the batteries are going out and it’s time to replace them. This should shut it up. :)

He was training to be stronger or something and there was a part where he put his hand over a stove top that was on. Is this a fire endurance training or something?
I know it’s a movie but it seems to be some type of endurance training.

There’s no endurance to it, your skin isn’t gonna become more heat resistant just because you burn it. Pain tolerance is something you built over time, eventually you’ll learn to suck it up. I’ve been cut, bruised, and burnt, when your a kid you cry, when you grow up it’s mind over matter. You just learn to deal with it, I don’t see what you would accomplish by burning yourself other than some unnecessary pain.

He enjoys the challenges of the job and especially the confidence displayed in him by the fire fighters and community. Recently, a police officer had a serious vehicle accident while on duty, injuring a citizen. It was proven that the officer had two beers with lunch just before the accident. The town, police chief, and the officer have all been sued by the victim’s family. At a recent town meeting, many citizens made it clear that drunk driving would not be tolerated by any public employee. The fire chief realizes a keg of beer has always been in a special cooler in the back room of the fire station. Volunteer firefighters gather socially and often respond to emergencies after having “a few beers”. The chief’s gut reaction is that the beer should go — no more drinking at or around the station. However, he knows that the vast majority of members who re-elected him would greatly resist efforts to eliminate the traditional keg of beer. He wants to be re-elected but doesn’t want to be put in legal jeopardy either. He does nothing, crosses his fingers, and decides to ask the fire board of directors to make a decision.

Yes, it is legal. It is totally within the power of the board of directors to make that call.

No, it is NOT ethical. As the fire chief, he SHOULD have had the moral fiber to make the RIGHT, but UNPOPULAR decision on his own. What he has done was to make the BOD out to be the bad guys, so all he has to do is say, "Gosh, I want to keep it here, but THEY are making us get rid of it!!"
