oh what a crock Bushlied. how many days has this been going on? close to 100. most people died during the katrina storm. Not from dehydration or from what Bush didn't do. You know the government was not set up to save everyone from from their own ignorance or non intelligence. They were told they needed to leave and they stayed there. Your argument is sad. If Obama is the great leader and savior why didn't his a$$kicking get the job done?

He still did better than Bush did with Katrina. How many people have died after the blast? How many people died while bush was slapping the back of the guy that should have been doing something about Katrina? Big difference.

Hi and thanks for the question. The SFD has gone to a computer generated audio on its dispatch channel. I know of at least one other major department that uses this system: the Dallas Fire Dept. The system is just used for the initial dispatch. All following communication between responding companies and dispatch is with real people. The main benefits are as follows: 1). dispatch is very clear and easy to understand, 2) “stacking” of several dispatches can take place (cont.) …

… (cont.). With “stacking”, the dispatchers can focus on things like deciding which companies should be assigned to different runs instead of spending time verbally making the dispatches. This is particularly valuable during busy call periods. One disadvantage of the system is that the voice mispronounces certain street names, such as “Oregon” … it’s O-re-Gun, no O-re-GON. The Dallas FD uses the exact same system, and it’s interesting because the voice is clearly not from Texas.

My dept just switched to the same system. It is called Locution Systems. I believe LAFD, Austin, Chicago, Las Vegas & Edmonton also use it. I work for Vancouver BC.
