Two fire look out stations are 20 miles apart with station B east of station A. Both station spot a fire?

Posted by admin on March 2nd, 2010 and filed under fire station | 3 Comments »

The bearing of the fire from station A is N 60 degrees east. The bearing of the fire from station B is North 40 degreese west. How far is it from station a to the the fire?

N 60° E means "60° east of north"
N 40° W means "40° west of north"

It helps if you draw a triangle.

If you draw vertical lines on either side of the triangle, you can see that the exterior angle of A is 60 degrees, so the inner angle must be 30.

The exterior angle of angle B is 40, so the inner angle is 50 degrees.

All the interior angles add up to 180 degrees, so angle C is 100 degrees.

A = 30 degrees
B= 50 degrees
C = 100 degrees
a = ?
b = ?
c = 20 miles

Now you can use the Rule of Sines to solve the rest.

a/sinA = b/sinB = c/sinC

b/sinB = 20/sin100

b = (20sin50)/sin100

b is about 15.57 miles

Using the same rule, a was about 10.2 miles.

Anyway the answer was 15.57 miles rounded up to 16.

I’m creating a website for a fire station; suggestions on good firefighter-themed music?

Posted by admin on February 28th, 2010 and filed under fire station | 17 Comments »

I’m creating a website for my favorite fire house in Manhattan, because they do not have one. I’ve been trying to think of music to use on the pages, but can’t think of anything good. I’m looking for upbeat music that most anyone would enjoy. Also, it would be GREAT if the music had reference to firefighters, fire, etc. Ex) ‘Fire’ by The Ohio Players. Thank you!

"You’ve Got What it Takes" Benton/Washington.

"Chariots of Fire" (instrumental)

Indiana Jones Theme Song Music

theme music from the classic western movie, “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly,”

theme music from the classic western movie, "the Magnificent Seven."

Hero of Allacrost music tracks

Star Wars: A Musical Journey CD

"Light My Fire" seems a bit antithetical, but fire fighters are sexy…both genders.

Two fire look-out stations are 20 miles apart with station B directly east of station A. Both stations spot a fire. The bearing of the fire from station A is N35 E and the bearing of the fire from station B is N49 W. How far is it from station A to the fire?

By the time you figure this out, the whole damn wood will be on fire.
Don’t worry about how far it is, just get your butt moving.

Is it worth it working for a volunteer fire station?

Posted by admin on February 20th, 2010 and filed under fire station | 1 Comment »

I’m a Paramedic but in my area getting the job of a fire fighter is extremely competitive and difficult. I was wondering if any fire fighters out there know if working for a volunteer fire station will gain me brownie points in getting into the department that i really wanna work for.

YES! It is worth working at a fire station. A lot of fire stations in England are short of workers at the moment.

Should I volunteer at Fire station before apply to Firefighter?

Posted by admin on February 18th, 2010 and filed under fire station | 2 Comments »

Should I volunteer at fire station for becoming Firefighter?
and
If I serve at Military services, do I receive a favor when I apply to Firefighter?
I can’t serve firefighter at Air Force because I don’t have citizenship,
so I can serve Army, Navy or Coast Guard.
What’s your think that what is better for becoming firefighter?
and
If I serve DC at Navy, where do I study ? in the ship? in the internet?
give me some information, please.
thanks

In the USA to be a paid firefighter you must be a citizen. Being a volunteer will not help in moving up ahead in the hiring list.
