After your Rembrandt etchings that is.
The cats and my stash of "important" papers. Don’t have a Rembrandt etching, but do have a Renoir; I suppose I could snag that on the way out, too.
If your house caught on fire, what would you rescue first?

I am looking for a specific fire rescue toy for my 6 year old. Please read details section. Thanks!?
It’s a fairly new toy, and I can’t remember the manufacturer. It consists of a special firefighter’s helmet with voice changer/walkie talkie features, and I believe a backpack-style "oxygen tank" part to the costume. Also, but sold seperately, there is a "fire hose" toy that has blue plastic "water" that blasts out.

Emergency, Fire & Rescue? US NAVY
Hi everyone,
i want to be a firefighter later on in life.
but i was considering joining the navy seeing as how they offer Emergency, Fire and rescue.
i was trying to do some research but i couldn’t find anyone who has done it first hand, or knows people that did it.
so if anyone is in the navy, or specifically did this job, please let me know what it is exactly that you do, and did you like it?
thank you!
The US Navy has the job for you…. DC (Damage Controlman). These guys are highly trained to fight all kinds of fires.
(from a web site)…as a DC you are responsible for inspecting, maintainence, and repair of firefighting, flooding equipment and fire suppression systems. You will learn fire suppression systems like AFFF, HALON (or equivelant now), CO2 flooding, restaurant hood systems and so on. You will also be responsible for maintain firefighting and damage control equipment in the repair lockers, (each ship is different for the number of lockers) you also take care of SCBA’s or even old style OBA’s, chem warfare equipment and so forth.
You will be assigned a position on a fire party and will work your way up to a more leadership position on the party. You will find yourself doing a lot of teaching and instructing of firefighting techniques and training others on equipment. Even though DC is a fire suppression type of rate, you primary job is to ensure the rest of the crew is trained to handle a fire or flooding emergency and you will find yourself doing more incident management than firefighting.
Will I ever get a chance to rescue my princess from the fire breathing dragon?
Girls are the most beautiful thingys ever.
Gosh, you really are a freak.
Based on the questions you’ve asked in the past, I’d have to say she would rather STAY with the dragon!

Fire/Rescue EMTs?
I plan to go to a community college my senior year of high school to become an emt for the local fire dept.
Right now I am 15, about to turn 16.
I was wondering what all standard equipment a normal fire rescue EMT needs to carry with them. The main reason I need to know now, is because I am trying to figure out what kind of car to get when I turn 16. I need to know how much room I need to have to haul stuff.
Also, does anyone know the laws (in AL) about EMTs that respond POV to medical calls. Are they permitted to have lights on their cars?
To me it just seems like it would be kind of stupid not to…..someones haveing a heart attack while you’re stuck in traffic….
Where can you buy lights that you can have installed in a personal car (mirror flashers, head/tail light strobes, etc.(not rooftop))
Thanks for any input. This is kind of a vague question.
LOL, as a firefighter I will just say this, dude, you will not be issued o2, ekg machines, defibulators, and other bulky gear. Plan on something the size of a gym bag. Anything more and you should have an ambulance respond. Remember your job is to stabilize, package and ship, not cure.
Did you know that the Fire and Police Dept. have no obligation to rescue you in case of fire?
The fire dept. can hide behind a clause called "special relationship" which means they do not have to rescue you or even use fire equipment that taxes pay for. The same with the police dept. They do not have to look for a person that is missing and of age and you have no recourse for either. Check out Coyne vs. City of Utica, missing 2001. Mothers beware, the fire stickers mean nothing. Anyone interested use email.
I don’t know about fire departments, but in the US, according to the Supreme Court, police departments are not obligated to act unless they specifically said they would. (for example: I call 911, the operator says an officer is on their way, they don’t show up. The department is liable).
Stupid doctrine, but is really the very reason why police departments has gone from one of protecting the public from getting their butts kicked, to one that is merely cleaning up after the fact (sorry – if I am already beat up or worse, you can’t help me).
Our local PD won’t even respond to an unverified burglar alarm calls. They claim not to have the resources. Of course they have all the resources in the world to blanket the city to rid society of people who don’t use seat belts (saving our democracy), or protecting the local donut shop from intruders (no joke – local hangout).
9/11 was unusual I am afraid to say. Most cops sit and wait until they have so much firepower they cannot lose. Unfortunately, the victim is either dead or hurt badly by that time (what good is the cops then?). Firefighters on the other hand do kick some major butt when it comes to actually saving people. There may be a doctrine in place for them as well – but I have never seen it used ever. (I have seen it used as a general rule in LE)
SCDF Fire and Rescue @ Jalan Rajah Blk 108. 7 Nov 2009 1.15am.
So eerie hearing the cries of the maid who was trap inside the unit screaming for help. Hope she is fine…
More of the News can be read in Stomp website….

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) rescued a maid trapped in unit that was entirely engulfed by fire at Jalan Rajah.
The SCDF crew used cutting and braking tools to cut open the iron gate and rescue the maid.
STOMPer QK sent in this photograph of the fire which he snapped from his home.
The STOMPer recounted:
This was like a midnight fire. I reached home at around one in the morning to the spectacular view of a column of black smoke rising into the city landscape.
Evidently, a sizeable fire had broken out shortly before at the Balestier area.
The fire brigade presumably got the fire under control at around 1:45 as the smoke turned grey and diminished in intensity, soon leaving just a patch of black clouds in the city skyline.
A spokesman from SCDF said:
The unit fire occurred at 1:09am today (Nov 7), at the fourth floor of Block 108 Jalan Rajah.
At 1:09am, SCDF received a call informing that a unit is on fire at the above-mentioned location. SCDF responded within 6 minutes to the location.
A fire engine, two red rhinos, a support appliance and two ambulances were deployed.
On arrival, the crew found the unit fully engulfed with fire and the maid was trapped in the unit.
SCDF crew used cutting and braking tools to cut open the iron gate and subsequently rescued the maid to safety. She was conveyed to Singapore General Hospital for observation.
The fire was brought under control in 10 minutes. The unit suffered extensive fire damage.
Another female Chinese, who was from the unit directly above the fire, was also conveyed to Singapore General Hospital for observation.
