Unusual but not impossible.

How much power does a normal Fire alarm consume?

Posted by admin on June 29th, 2010 and filed under fire alarm | 1 Comment »

I’m willing to pursue my project on Fire alarm systems but I first need to know power consumed by it!
Please help, I prefer answers for industry peoples

For a typical commercial fire alarm system, the AC power will be at the control panel and it will typically need about 100W to 200W to run it. See http://www.azsecurity.net/pdf/ALARMAS%20CONTRA%20INCENDIO/PANELES/FIRELITE/MS9600.pdf

Crews continue to fight massive fire

Posted by admin on June 27th, 2010 and filed under fire chief | No Comments »

nearly 22 hours after fire erupted at an albuquerque business complex– firefighters are still there. tonight we’re learning more about the fire– and the businesses devastated by it. kayla anderson was live at the scene of the fire last night– shortly after it started. she’s back there today for us with the very latest. also– fire investigators with the arson team are still here– waiting to go inside and complete their investigation. the three alarm fire started just before 8 last night. it got so big– 23 fire trucks with the albuquerque fire department were fighting it from every angle. the fire even got the attention of city leaders– who arrived at the fire around 10 last night– including mayor richard berry, cao david campbell, and chief public safety officer darren white. we had an exclusive interview with mayor richard berry on the air last night– and today we asked him why he felt it was so important to come. “i just wanted to be tre in support of not only our firefighters, but also the businesses that were impacted and to, as a mayor, be able to get a chance to work along side chief breen and the great firefighters we have in albuquerque and as a mayor i’m interested, so i wanted to be there.” firefighters say most of the damage is contained to mmt business records storage. here’s what i found on manta- dot-com … a website that provides information on company profiles… the business has been open for about 20 years… and employees at least five people. cross country auto parts was also damaged– though crews don’t know yet how badly. according to that same website — cross country has been there for about 2 years and employs about 20 people. crews don’t know yet what started the fire. no one was injured

Noonday Volunteer Fire Department Fallen Brothers

Posted by admin on June 27th, 2010 and filed under fire department | 25 Comments »

This video was created by Albert Belez with KETK NBC 56 for The Noonday Volunteer Fire Department after we lost two of our brothers. Captain Kevin Williams and Firefighter Austin Cheek. The Last alarm at the end of this video was added by myself and was the actual last Alarm that was played across all fire and ems channels during the memorial service. Albert has been at many of our fire scenes and has become a very familiar face to us. He did a beautiful job making this video. Kevin and Austin, “We will never forget you guys. Rest In Peace Brothers.” The footage that was at the beginning of this video has been removed by request from KETK 56.

UAlbany Fire Alarm – 2/12/07 (Campus Center Extension)

Posted by admin on June 27th, 2010 and filed under fire alarm | 25 Comments »

Well, what were the odds? It happened again (sort of). I was eating lunch in the food court, and then the fire alarm goes off! I scramble to get out my camera and after I turn it on, I grab my lunch and get out (forgetting my book bag was under the table – oops).

Well, after we get outside, they tell us it was NOT a drill, and they don’t know what set it off, so we had to wait for the fire department to arrive and inspect the place. After finding out there’s no fire, they silence the alarm. The system, like all the rest on the campus, is programmed for “audible silence”, so the strobes were still flashing after the alarm stopped. However, wanting to get back to their lunch (not to mention the warm building) people start to make their way back in. But, the UPD officer on the scene forces them back out. Well, as it turns out, for some reason, they couldn’t get the system to reset (it was acting funny from the start – the “Alarm Silenced” LED was on, even though it was never silenced), so they decide to let everyone back in anyway.

They fiddled with it for the next 20-25 minutes, and they even set if off again briefly (they didn’t make us evacuate, though). After finally figuring out a smoke detector was the problem (it went bad), they were finally able to get the system to reset.
